For those who don’t have access to the paper, we’ve included the article above and the text below.

Filmmakers riding high ahead of cycle film’ screening

The culmination of two hard months in the saddle will be on screen at the Powerhouse Youth Theatre this Saturday with the screening of Fairfield Bike Shorts.

The premiere film screening will include four short films made as part of a series of intensive workshops along with a behind-the-scenes documentary.

Producer Phuong Le said it was exciting to see the project come to live.

“There was a lot more work involved than we initially thought.

“We’ve got two fictional narratives, a bicycle documentary and an animation.

“They feature humour, drama, mystery and heart-felt stories.”

More than 40 people with a range of ages and backgrounds were involved in the project, which was supported by Fairfield Council and the Western Sydney Cycling Network.

Ms Le said the aim of the project was to get people talking and thinking about cycling and to support local filmmaking talent.

“We can see the potential for it to roll out towards other local councils,” she said.

“That would be really exciting.”

A bike tour of Fairfield starts at 2:30pm, with the screening to begin at 4pm.

Tickets are free, but bookings are essential. Visit fbs.eventbrite.com.au or fairfieldbikeshorts.wordpress.com for more details.
